When it comes to planning, preparing and pulling off the Best Basketball Weekend on Earth, we appreciate all the help we can get! Sponsors, volunteers and Hoopfesters ensure that our tournament weekend is a fun event for everyone. New to the Official Sponsor team and the Hoopfest experience, is BECU.
Founded in 1935 by 18 Boeing employees contributing 50 cents each to help start the credit union, BECU’s goal was to help Boeing employees finance the purchase of tools for their work. Today, BECU has grown to more than $16 billion in assets and over 1 million members. While the credit union has been a part of the Spokane community for nearly 15 year with their Contact Center and IT recovery site located in the Spokane Valley, they have recently opened two Neighborhood Financial Centers (NFC), one one Division St. and the other in the Spokane Valley. Anyone who lives or works in Washington State is eligible to join BECU by stopping by one of their branches or signing up online.
With their dedication to be a physical presence for Spokanites, a Hoopfest and BECU partnership seemed like a good fit!
“Hoopfest is a great event for Spokane and the region,” states Steve Hauschild, the Market Leader/Director of Business Services for BECU. “Hoopfest gives back to the community in so many ways throughout the year and the shared value of ‘building community’ makes Hoopfest a wonderful partnership for BECU.”
As one of the “new kids on the block,” BECU hasn’t shied away from wanting to be a part of Hoopfest!
“We’re excited to have BECU as a new sponsor,” expresses Bailee Neyland, Hoopfest’s Director of Brand Strategy and Business Development. To execute the world’s largest 3on3 basketball tournament requires all hands on deck! With their expansion into Spokane and their willingness to join our awesome squad of Official Sponsors, we’ll be able to come together and create another fun tournament weekend.”
Hoopfest Weekend is family-friendly and community-focused. That means we want to see everyone out on the streets of downtown Spokane!
“In addition to this being the greatest 3on3 basketball tournament, it’s also one of the best community events for families to attend so we’re excited to talk to our neighbors and the community throughout the event,” Hauschild explains. “We are pleased to be a part of the festivities and helping to advance community and sportsmanship.”
In its first season as a Hoopfest Sponsor, BECU is going all out to experience Hoopfest. From a booth with fun giveaways to two official BECU teams playing in the tournament (along with lots of other employees registered to play personally), BECU will be there cheering on the players, their fans and the hundreds of thousands of Hoopfesters that come to the Spokane community.
