Dr. Pepper College Tuition Contest at Hoopfest 2016

With our 2016 event just around the corner, we would like to highlight one of our newest major sponsors of this year’s Hoopfest, Dr. Pepper.

The soft drink company has sponsored Hoopfest for the last eight years and this year decided to take their sponsorship to a new level. “Dr. Pepper wanted to take it up a level this year and do more for Hoopfest and the community,” says Mark Scheidt of Dr. Pepper. “So, we became a major sponsor and we are giving away a Dr. Pepper College Scholarship at Hoopfest this year.”

The Dr. Pepper Tuition Contest at this year’s Hoopfest will start with a Promotion Period, which opened on May 1, 2016 at 12:00pm PT and will end at 11:59pm PT on June 10, 2016. Three winners will be selected randomly on June 13, 2016 and have a chance to compete against each other in a Hot Shot competition on Saturday, June 25 at 3:00pm PT. Each contestant will get an allotted amount of time to make shots from random spots on the court that have different point values, from one to five based on difficulty. Once the time is up, the contestant with the most points will win the $5,000 Dr. Pepper College Scholarship at the college of their choice or to pay off current student loans. Contestants can click here to apply now.

Dr. Pepper employees also love giving back to the communities that they live in. Locally, the 80 Dr. Pepper employees here in Spokane give back to the community through various youth sports and scouting programs. Nationally, Dr. Pepper is also involved in the Wounded Warriors program, where employees give time to help build an average of 30 houses a year for disabled vets. The company is also involved in a project called Kaboom, where employees also give time to help build playgrounds for children.

According to Mark, Dr. Pepper’s favorite part of Hoopfest weekend is “The excitement of the games, setting up very early Saturday morning and seeing our friends from Hoopfest downtown enjoying the results of all their hard work from the last couple of months.”

Mark and his team are extremely excited to see everyone down at Hoopfest 2016 and can’t wait to congratulate the first winner of the Dr. Pepper College Scholarship giveaway.

Will the winner of the Dr. Pepper Tuition Contest have eligibility issues if they are or will be a college athlete?
