HAPPY NEW YEAR: Words from Our Executive Director

Head is up, eyes are down the floor, 2018 is ready to score and Spokane Hoops Association will deliver the pass on time!

Our Spokane Hoops Association Elite Basketball League (EBL), formally Spokane AAU, is in full stride. Coming up, we have our third annual 8th Grade All-Star Game, where nominated players will unite and battle on the court. The Hot Shot Competition will test the three-point shooting and free throw skills of our athletes. The Shootout Spring Classic gives players another chance to face off against good competition in mid-February. The league season will culminate with our revered Championship Weekend. Save the date for these upcoming events!

Spokane Hoops Developmental Basketball League (DBL) is also picking up speed. We are mid-season for our 2nd-3rd Grade program, and our Kindergarten-1st Grade program tips off next week. We are very excited to introduce-through both of these programs-the fundamentals and love of the game to our regional youth.

Of course, no new year would be complete without the Best Basketball Weekend on Earth, Spokane Hoopfest! Yes, it is true…Hoopfest is a year-round endeavor. Some elements take more than a year to plan, but as the calendar turns,  the pulse quickens as we take stock of our city and ever-changing landscape. Santa put his checklist away and we got ours out. The journey to the tourney has begun as we confirm and reconfirm all of the moving parts and necessary details. With all the planning, we always keep some magic up our sleeve. It is the same magic that brought Kevin Durant in 2017. You never know what you may find at the end of June in Basketball City, USA!

We are grateful for all of your support and energy for Hoopfest and our organization. We will continue to push the tempo from our office as we strive to be the voice of basketball in our region. We are just a phone call or email away, once you decide to rise with us.

If you would like to learn about how you can rise with us, please send us an email.
