Holiday Hoops

ATTENTION: We have one spot available for an 8th grade girl’s team that will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please email Giff Marleau at by 10am Friday, December 5th if you would like to enter your team. Please note the schedules will be available online by Saturday morning.

Can Santa deliver presents around the world in one night? Yes.

Does he have flying reindeer, one whose nose glows red to guide his sleigh? Mhm.

Okay, does he know who’s been naughty or nice? Yep.

Well, can he hoop??

That’s what the December 13-14 Santa Slammer Winter Classic, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods is all about—bringing a collection of families together and the traditions of the holiday season to the hardwood. This year we have a pretty good size collection!

The Santa Slammer has grown to 162 teams that will play on 21 courts among seven locations:

  • HUB
  • Warehouse
  • Fitness Center
  • U High
  • Evergreen M.S.
  • Bowdish M.S.
  • Greenacres M.S.

Joining in on the fun is Dick’s Sporting Goods, who not only sponsors the tournament, but has provided a special Spokane AAU Discount Coupon of 20% off throughout the store. So make sure to clink the link and print out your copy today. It’s valid during the weekend of the tournament.

Make sure to also score some great gear just in time for Christmas with their special basketball offers:

We hope to see you all out there sweatin’ it up for St. Nick. And if you’ve had a rocky year in terms of behavior, we’re pretty sure supporting the Santa Slammer Winter Classic, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods, will get you on the Nice List.

Do you have to be from Spokane to play in this Tournament Dec 13-14?

Hi Hank! No, you do not need to be from Spokane to play. We actually get quite a few teams from other states coming to play and spend a fun weekend in Spokane. Our registration is already closed for this year, but we do happen to have, as we mentioned in the blog post, one spot open for an 8th grade girls team on a first-come-first-serve basis.
