With Mother’s day around the corner, we would like to highlight how important mothers are to us and Hoopfest weekend. From cheering us on to bringing us water to making sure we wear our sunscreen, we appreciate all you do!
Spokane native Michele Crowley is a married mother of two. Michele’s daughters Ellis, 13, and Drew, 11, have played in Hoopfest the last five and three years and her husband Craig has played on and off since his early 20’s.
Michele’s daughter Ellis won her bracket the first year she played and ever since her Hoopfest juices have been flowing. Ellis’ younger sister, Drew, watched Ellis win her first championship and wanted to jump in on the fun. “Hoopfest weekend starts Friday with all the festivities downtown,” says Michele. “The anxiety build’s in our house as I start packing the water bottles, the chairs, the sunscreen and all the snacks needed for day one.”
Throughout the weekend, the family meets up with friends and grabs some grub between games. Michele’s favorite memory of Hoopfest happens to be last Hoopfest as a whole. Michele’s two daughters and husband were spread out all over Spokane. “We were running back and forth from the Spokane Arena parking lot to the park, and all over the place… we sure had fun!”
Michele and her family are excited for another magical year at Hoopfest 2016. Her three loves are playing again this year and they all plan on bringing home a championship shirt.
Hoopfest weekend is a weekend full of gratitude and we are so thankful for all that moms do to help us not only on that weekend but all year round. Thank you moms!
