Anyone who has been to Hoopfest in the last 16 years knows the excitement that dwells at the Toyota Shoot Off courts throughout the weekend.
An elimination style competition, contestants arrive as early as Thursday to purchase their tickets to shoot. $10 gets a contestant three half court shots, but all it takes is one. Tickets to shoot can continue to be purchased until a shot is made, but once a contestant drains one, he or she qualifies for the next round of competition.
The final rounds of the Toyota Shoot Off begin on Sunday afternoon. Shots are launched until one lucky winner stands and is handed the keys to a brand new Toyota vehicle, at Hoopfest 2015, a Toyota Corolla S.
The Shoot Off has become Toyota’s signature contribution to Hoopfest, in addition to bringing the Sea Gals—the Seattle Seahawks cheer squad—to Hoopfest each year. For Toyota, giving back to the community at Hoopfest isn’t even a question; it’s just a given.
“Hoopfest is the largest community gathering in the Northwest every year and we find it’s a great platform for Toyota,” said Eric Hixson, owner and president of E2 Media Inc. and director of Toyota’s marketing and promotion for the Pacific Northwest region. “When you look at the range of ages and demographics and the number of people the event reaches, it is worth it [for Toyota] to be there.”
Local Toyota dealers prioritize community involvement each year even beyond Hoopfest. Toyota puts on various customer appreciation events annually and gives to various local charities and causes, including Gonzaga Basketball and NBC Camps. To demonstrate their commitment to community, one hundred percent of the money brought in at the Shoot Off is given back to Hoopfest for its year round community outreach programs.
For the last 15 years, Toyota has been focused on providing an excellent guest experience for the participants in the Shoot Off. We have every reason to believe this year will be just as good.
“Several contestants have won the Shoot Off more than once. All I can say is people better practice,” Hixson said with a laugh.
So be sure to warm up that long-range shot for Hoopfest 2015!
The Toyota Shoot Off courts are located near the Rotary Fountain in Riverfront Park.
