Isaiah Edwards rose to the challenge for Hoopfest’s 2017 Slam Dunk Competition presented by MultiCare

With a few site changes happening due to construction in Riverfront Park and throughout the Hoopfest site, Nike Center Court was relocated to the Bennett Block parking lot between Main and Spokane Falls. The relocation meant that our Elite Divisions battled against each other right downtown and that a favorite Hoopfest element made its way to the streets: The Slam Dunk Competition presented by MultiCare Health System.

Each year, our Slam Dunk Competition brings athleticism, verticality and impressive dunks to the world’s largest 3on3 basketball tournament. Those wanting to participate headed to Nike Center Court on Saturday for the Qualifying Round and those who impressed the crowd and our celebrity judges, moved on to Sunday’s Final Round. As with any competition, there can only be one…

The final man standing earned his spot at the top. With another group of athletes displaying jaw-dropping dunks for #Hoopfest2017, Isaiah Edwards riled the crowd with between-the-legs slams. Our judges for the Slam Dunk Competition were well-known, both locally and globally.

On Saturday, former Gonzaga University men’s basketball players, Matt Bouldin, Gary Bell, Jr. and Eric McClellan, teamed up with former University of Washington men’s basketball standout, Donald Watts, to judge the competition. Check out some of the Slam Dunk coverage from Saturday provided by our Major Sponsor, KXLY 4 News.

Bell, Jr., McClellan and Watts returned for Sunday’s Final Round, but were joined this time by International Slam Dunk Champion, Kenny Dobbs. If you weren’t at Nike Center Court around 3PM on Sunday, you might have missed the Final Round, but KXLY’s got you covered with a video of the action. This year, however, there might have been an extra, surprise element to the Slam Dunk Competition that no one was ready for.

Nearly two weeks after winning the NBA Finals and being crowned MVP, Kevin Durant returned to Washington State to see what the Hoopfest hype is all about. Surprising our Hoopfesters, KD stuck around to see what the Slam Dunk Competition finalists had in their vertical arsenal. Isaiah Edwards impressed all and walked away with a trophy, year-long bragging rights and the memory that Nike brought one of their signature athletes to the Best Basketball Weekend on Earth.

Thanks to all who participated in our Slam Dunk Competition presented by MultiCare Health System and congrats again to Isaiah Edwards!
