What are your future plans?

My dream job is to work for the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Raiders, or Oakland Athletics as a season ticket representative or as their General Manager.

Other than school, what do you enjoy doing?

In my free time, I enjoy being an Assistant Coach for the Gonzaga Women’s Club Basketball team and also enjoy breaking down film of basketball, baseball and football.

How did you first hear about Hoopfest?

Being from the Bay Area, I did not hear about Hoopfest until my freshman year at Gonzaga. I heard about Hoopfest from a few of my friends, who are from the Washington Area, but once I saw the SportsCenter piece, I knew Hoopfest was the real deal.

Why did you choose to intern with Hoopfest?

I chose to intern with Hoopfest because I wanted to work at a business that markets basketball to the public.

What has been your favorite part since starting your internship with Hoopfest?

My favorite part of working at Hoopfest has been learning how to become the best worker from the leadership of people like Bailee Neyland and Keli Riley. Hoopfest has been an awesome experience and not only did I learn skills that can be used in the business world, but I developed valuable relationships as well.

Here is an additional fun fact about Russell: The main character Russell, from the Pixar Animated movie “Up”, is inspired by Russell Jang. Russell’s parents lived next door to the director of the film, Peter Docter. Russell often ventured over to Docter’s home and Docter became very familiar with Russell and his habits. He was eventually invited by Docter to come to the Pixar Studios for a tour. Later on, Docter told Russell, over dinner, that the main character in his upcoming movie was inspired by him.
