More Fun in the Sun with See3Slam!

The Pacific Northwest is finally seeing some sun! Just in time for the Best Basketball Weekend on Earth. As we gear up for Hoopfest, we want to inform you of other tournaments across Washington that you can play in post-Hoopfest!

See3Slam is getting ready for its second annual tournament weekend. On July 8-9, they will take over the streets again for 3on3 basketball, food, entertainment, games, clinics and more!

Director of See3Slam and Tri-Cities Sunrise Rotary, Terry Fleishman, explains that See3Slam began because they were looking to raise money for the community while encouraging citizens to get involved, as well.

“Tri-Cities Sunrise Rotary was seeking to establish a community wide event that would serve as a sustainable stream of revenue to support its multiple local charities,” Fleishman says.

Specifically, the Tri-Cities Sunrise Rotary wanted to support the work of Dr. Jim Guzek and his vision of restoration work in Africa through his Gifting the Gift of Sight service project. See3Slam got its name and logo with the eyeball on the basketball and because of its generous beginnings.

Fleishman said her favorite memory from the 2016 tournament was the wheelchair play at center court. She also remembers the Jimmy Johns eating contest between some of the wheelchair players.

Lots of changes are coming for the tournament weekend this year. See3Slam is really focusing on their activities and entertainment, including kids activities in the park, live music entertainment and a Dutch Bros Mobile Truck for on the spot coffee. Increased number of referees and more score reporting spots along the court path are also being included in the event to help players have a more enjoyable experience.

On Friday, July 7, See3Slam is hosting the MBA3 Youth Academy where kids of all skill levels and grades get to learn from the best and develop their skills.

The academy will run for a half day for grades 1-3 and a full day for grades 4-8. Clinics with international pro basketball player Mike Brown, will take place Friday morning with 3-on-3 play in the afternoon.

Fleishman notes that returners can look forward to a clean organized tournament, easy check-in and registration, a family-friendly atmosphere, responsive volunteers, T-shirts for every player, food, beer garden, entertainment and more. Not to mention the sunny warm weather and wholesome Tri-Cities hospitality.

This year’s prize is a 2015 Ford Fiesta from West Coast Auto Dealers, and you don’t want to miss out! Just two weekends after Hoopfest, spend another fun weekend in the sun in Tri-Cities!
