Moss Adams’ Backboard Contest Brings Color to Streets of Spokane

Hoopfest is excited to be teaming up with our good friends at Moss Adams for the 28th consecutive year! With Hoopfest 2017 right around the corner, we are looking for young artists to bring some vibrancy to our backboards to color the streets of downtown Spokane. The Moss Adams Youth Backboard Contest is a great opportunity to further involve the community in its love of Hoopfest.

Kindergartners through eighth graders are invited to bring out their ingenious design ideas for a backboard at Hoopfest. We’re leaving all the design work open to the discretion of each artist since our judges will be looking out for original, creative and unique designs.

“I think it has helped get more kids involved in Hoopfest and to know what it is all about,” says Anna Bresnahan, Regional Marketing Specialist at Moss Adams. “Each year there are more kids that submit artwork so the word is getting around to schools and kids know about the contest.”

The talent will be divided into three divisions: K/1/2nd grade, 3/4/5th grade and 6/7/8th grade. One winner will be selected from each grade group with only one submission per student.

“Kids take pride in having their artwork on a backboard during Hoopfest,” says Bresnahan. “It is a fun project and we love to be involved!”

To honor the artwork of each winner, we will be displaying their backboard at Hoopfest 2017, June 24-25. All designs must be submitted on an 8 ½ x 11 inch piece of white paper (standard printing paper). All entries should include the participant’s name, grade, school and contact phone number.

The deadline to submit has been extended to Friday, April 28th.

Students should submit their backboard designs to:

We are going to try and send the art work but I had a question and did not know where to ask so I will try here. My daughter is 7 and will be 8 by June 6. She can not find anyone to play hoopfest with her, we tried some girls on her y basketball team but they were playing with someone else or did not want to. Do you know of any 8 year olds who would play with my daughter?

      Hi Katie,

We’d love for your daughter to play in Hoopfest. If you head to the Forum page on our Facebook, you can browse to see if anyone is already looking for a team of 8 year old girls or you can create your own topic to find teammates for your daughter.
